Kickstarter Editions – What’s Included! (Ukraine Support Sale)

If you were one of the many who helped support Ukraine Relief by purchasing a copy of This War of Mine from the Awaken Realms special sale, you will be happy to know that you will be getting the Kickstarter Edition! However, you will NOT be getting the Stretch Goals box as per their announcement on the main page of that campaign:

* If you ordered this during the 2022 Awaken Realms Ukraine Support campaign, please note that it states: “Core Box DOES NOT include Stretch Goals from the campaign (unfortunately, we do not have SGs left in stock)

However, you may be getting a some of the extras included with the game due to it being the Kickstarter Edition (not sure which ones, here is a list of them all – you may get some but likely not many of these)! Awaken Realms even includes a booklet that explains what all the bonus things are!

First off … you might get one extra character for the game, including both the character card and the miniature model. And the character actually is a good character in the game:

Next … they made the large game board double sided. The back side is the “advanced” side. Make sure to start on the other side (the regular side) of the game board!

Next, the Farmers Add-On might be included. You might not want to play with this add-on for your first couple games (until you get the feel for the base game). It adds two miniature models, two fitting cards (The Goat and Rooftop Garden), 1 Night Raid card, 21 Resident cards, 1 Event card and 1 Visitor card.

Next… both the DOG and the CAT may be included! The dog includes a miniature model while the cat is only a token (there was lots of discussion about why the cat didn’t have a miniature back when players first got their games a few years ago). A card for both the dog and for the cat is included.

Next, a small four card add-on called “Our Street” may be included. These add both new threats as well as new possibilities.

Next the the 7 card Desperate Measures add-on might be included. Whenever a character dies or leaves the game you randomly take one of these cards which gives you some benefits, but there is a risk in accepting them.

Next it may include a 6 card add-on Hidden Objectives to add a touch of competitiveness to this cooperative game. I wouldn’t play with them, but I’m sure many of you may enjoy adding them to your game.

Next, it may include the Heart of the City add-on (which I typically include in all my games). It typically will merely add more story to the game and give you a bit more feel for the experience the game is providing you (plus it includes one large model).

Next it may include the Orphans of War add-on. This adds 2 miniature models, 3 Orphans cards, 6 Fitting cards, 6 Kid Action cards, and 1 Happiness token. This add-on adds another task for us (in addition to trying to survive). Now we also must maintain the safety and well-being of a child (or children)! However, they CAN aid us in our daily struggles, but only to a limited extent.

Next you may get a mysterious close envelope labeled “317”. You only will be allowed to use what is inside once, so choose well.

Next you may get a second set of dice. Yes, you end up with TWO sets of dice and can only use ONE of them during game play. I prefer the standard dice as they are more easily (and quickly) readable. The alternate dice are more stylistic and many of you may enjoy using them instead.

Next, you also may get a strange package. Open it only after you successfully complete the campaign.

Next you may get Sewers which is meant for advanced players. If you can navigate through the “puzzle” of sewers to the end, you wind up in one of the three Scavenging locations and you get a free bonus time of Scavenging. However, you only get half the normal amount of Exploration cards and the Reality Impact cards are ignored.

Finally, you may get the extensive Tactics add-on which includes 2 maps, 20 cards, 9 tokens and 4 miniatures. This expansion is for advanced players and adds an alternate form of “combat” while Scavenging and meeting Soldiers, Deserters, Rebels or Thugs from the Residents deck.
