This War of Mine: The Boardgame is more of an experience than a game, but Awaken Realms has made a hybrid that is excellent in both aspects. The game is fantastic. The experience is something I had hoped for and received in full. [Note: this site is not for the video game and is not official]
1st Edition has been out for a few years. Now Awaken Realms is preparing an expanded 2nd Edition via a GameFound pledge (due for August 2026 delivery next year).

Another great game with lots of narrative is coming this fall: Rogue Angels. It is a space exploration with battles game that comes with over 1,000 pages of missions, map setups and branching story. Awaken Realms and Gamefound initially were closely related – but now are separate
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: Originally (in the old days) Gamefound was kind of like an offshoot of Awaken Realms. But now they are separate entities:

Deluxe Bags are NOT included in the Upgrade Pack
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: The deluxe bags are not included in the Upgrade Pack.

Pre-Painted Miniatures MIGHT be available during the Pledge Manager
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: You can’t pledge for painted minis during the campaign (and endgame extension). However, they might be available later during the pledge manager. And if you pledge for them at that time, note that they will be a completely new set of miniatures sent to you (so, yes, you likely will end up with two sets of miniatures … one pre-painted and one standard or sundropped)

There will be two double sided playmats for the Shelter game boards
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: You can play This War of Mine using FOUR different “maps” of the “shelter”. They will be two double sided playmats in the playmats pack.

There won’t be an Add-On for the improved miniatures
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: There are no plans to have an add-on to get all the miniatures that have been upgraded / improved / new poses.

Upgrade Pack has ALL stretch goals that are Gameplay Related!
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: All game play stretch goals are included in the Upgrade Pack (but not the cosmetic ones):

SOME Scenario cards can be used in the main game
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: The cards included in the Scenarios may or may not be usable in the regular game. It will depend upon the Scenario! The cards in some scenarios are very specific to the scenario it is included with!

Details about “Short Mode” coming soon!
Confirmed by Awaken Realms. More info and details about their SHORT GAME feature will be divulged soon. This feature will let you play the game in a shorter amount of time!

Stretch Pay will be shorter during Pledge manager
Confirmed by Awaken Realms: If you want a longer time to pay off your pledge … the stretch pay during the initial campaign (and endgame extended time) will be longer (ie, spread out over more months) than if you pledge during the pledge manager. You still can get stretch pay during the pledge manager … it just won’t be stretched out over as many months.

Except (of course) the upgrade Pack … since you are getting everything, you won’t be upgrading anything!
